5 New Year’s Resolutions for Couples

Unless you live under a rock, or somewhere in space (if you do, congrats on getting a wifi signal up there), then you have probably realized that the best, and most romantic time of the year is upon us. That’s right; it’s the end of the year and the start of a new one. Where we fill our stomachs with sugar and make vows to be better than our former selves. Now, spending New Year’s as a couple can have a quite different meaning than what it does when spending it single. Because, the vows you make, are not to only be better as a person, but also as a partner. So, this year, your resolutions will be much different than the ones you’ve made so far. They will not be the classic “I will go to the gym more”, but they will be more like “I will go more to the gym with you”. In everything you do, try to include your partner as well, because otherwise, what’s the point of making New Year’s resolutions together am I right? I mean, isn’t the whole point of this holiday to do things and spend time with the ones you love? Then why do anything differently in this situation. But, you may ask, oh dear random person on the internet, what are some good resolutions to have as a couple for New Year? This, my fellow reader, is what I will attempt to answer you right now!

To Stop a Bad Habit Together

We all have bad habits we want to stop, things about ourselves that we want to change, but have never done anything about it. So, I can’t think of a better time to stop that habit now! What better motivation can you get, than the start of a new year, and your partner supporting you, while you are supporting them, so you both can become better versions of yourselves. So, this New Year’s Eve, both select something you really dislike about you. Maybe it’s your smoking habit or that unyielding desire for sweets at 4 AM in the morning. It could be anything, as long as you both choose something, and stop it effective immediately. The good thing is, that not only you have someone to support you when you are starting to fall for your habits again, but the hard work your partner is putting in, will motivate you to push yourself even more!New Year’s Resolutions for Couples

To Always Listen to Each Other

One of the greatest things about being in a relationship is that you always have someone to hear you out when you have something on your mind. But, that whole thing gets wasted when your daily activities suck up so much of your time, then you have neglected any form of communication you had established so far. So, this year, try and pay more attention to what each other has to say, and be as helpful as you can to one another problems! This way, not only the bond between you will get even stronger, but you will also become better as people, by having someone to hear you out, and also trying to become a better listener!New Year’s Resolutions

To Always Try to Make Each Other Happy

This is probably one of the first things you vowed to each other when you first got together, and it’s natural. But, if you are like most, this vow has become less and less relevant over the time. So, this year, try your absolute harder to do things that make your partner happy. This way, not only your relationship gets stronger, but if both of you follow this rule, then it’s only natural that you both end up happy am I right? It can be a surprise dinner at that place he/she really likes or just having them come home and see that you cooked for once so they don’t have to, or like some little extra effort on the important days by means of maybe some special wishes, or even a handwritten card.

To Spend More Time Together

As I said earlier, nowadays, schedules are so rough, couples tend to spend less and less time together. This can lead to a series of plenty issues in a relationship, which all have a pretty easy way to be avoided. It can be a couple of hours after work, or it can mean waking up a bit earlier so you can have breakfast together, or even dedicating the entire weekend to each other. No matter the cost, try to dedicate sometime off your schedule to spend time with each other, try new things together, have fun, laugh, hang out with other couples, it can be whatever you like. I mean, what’s the point of being in a relationship if you are living your days like a single person? So, from now on, try to do as many things together, so you can actually say that you value your relationship.

Be a Team

This may be last, but definitely not least. In my eyes, it may be even the most important one. You need to realize that you two are a couple, you are together, stronger than a thousand walls. You are a team. The second you realize that, and vow to remain that way, then everything is just a straight line from there. You need to understand that you only have each other and that you only need each other. So, this year, try to do everything as a team as well. Your love is what makes you stronger as individuals, and unbeatable as a team! So, utilize it. If you have a problem, work it together, if you have news, good or bad, handle them together, if you want to try something out, do it together. All that matters, is not what you do, as long as you do it together. The second you both realize that then you two are set for, arguably, the best years of your life as a couple!
